Where is GeekOut being held? New Mountain Asheville! Our new venue host for GeekOut is a 3-level concert hall and outdoor arena located at 38 N. French Broad in downtown Asheville.

Where do I park? Try the free lot just for GeekOut on Carter St, directly behind the venue.

What kind of food will be on site? Pizza, coffee, and ice cream will be on site. Lots of other options are within walking distance!

What does GeekOut cost? There are 3 ticketed parts of GeekOut – Geektastic: A Burlesque Revue, GeekOut Day Festival, and the GeekOut After-Party. Programming FAQ

What’s happening at GeekOut this year? So much geeky fun! The GeekOut Day Festival has artists, vendors, interactive exhibits, shows for all ages, and a costume contest. GeekOut has two kick-off events – the Promenade is a costumed photo shoot in Pack Square, and Geektastic is an epic, 18+ only burlesque show. This year’s after-party is also one you won’t want to miss! There will be no gaming room at GeekOut this year, but we hope to bring it back in the future.

I’m an artist or vendor. Where can I apply for a table? Each 10 x 10 space includes a table and free wi-fi. Family FAQ

What part of GeekOut is awesome for kids? We have two all-ages events at GeekOut this year – the Friday Promenade and Saturday Day Festival. The promenade and photo shoot downtown is a great place to see fun costumes! At the GeekOut Day festival, you’ll find costumed characters, movie cars, games for kids, art & toys, and a kid’s costume contest!

Do little kids need tickets? Children 4 years old and under are free! Kids ages 5 – 12 need a $5 pass.

Should I bring a stroller? Strollers outside in the arena are welcome! Strollers may not be able to navigate narrow walkways indoors. Please be considerate of how much space your stroller takes up and leave it outdoors if necessary. 

 Rules & Policies FAQ

What do I need to get in? Bring a photo ID and your digital ticket!

Are there age restrictions to GeekOut? The two evening events, Geektastic and the After-Party, are 18+ only. No one under 18 will be admitted. Attendees under 21 must pay a $3 bar fee to the venue. 

What are the rules at GeekOut? Your ticket purchase legally binds you to the following code of conduct while at GeekOut. 

Keep your bracelet on at all times! If you don’t have a bracelet, you will not be admitted to events.

Please be polite with your camera. Respect a NO if someone does not with to have their picture taken.

Don’t be a jerk. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

GeekOut is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property, or for injuries sustained at GeekOut.

Can I wear a mask, brandish a sword, or spin some fire?

Costumes and props are encouraged, including bodypaint and masks! During daytime activities, please costume appropriately. Extremely revealing outfits will not be permitted at the Promenade or GeekOut Day Festival since children will be present.

Real weapons of any kind will not be allowed inside the venue. Prop weapons must be checked at the door and peace bonded. Weapons that are extremely realistic may not be permitted indoors. Bladed weapons, functioning projectiles, illegal substances, drones, and anything that flames or explodes will not be permitted on site except with permission from the venue and official permits from the city of Asheville.

Real firearms are not allowed at GeekOut!  This includes those attendees who maintain a North Carolina Concealed Carry License or a similar permit from another state.  New Mountain security and local law enforcement officials will treat anything that looks like a real weapon as a weapon.  Attendees who choose to ignore this policy may be asked to leave the festival and be banned from re-entry.
